The 2006 Mao Er Duo “Fine Leaf Queen” Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake is made from rare small-leaf varietal tea trees in Yibang, Yunnan, known for their ancient lineage and natural mutation. This tea features elegant orchid and honey aromas, a soft, glutinous, and silky texture, and a refined, smooth entry with a long, lingering aftertaste. “Mao Er Duo,” meaning “Cat’s Ear,” is a unique folk-named Pu-erh variety, named for its small, ear-shaped leaves. Originating from Yibang’s mutated small-leaf tea trees, the mature leaves are short and oval, with plump buds and late sprouting. With a low bud ratio of only about 5%, it is prized for its rarity and is often called the “Panda Bloodline” of tea. The cake is compact and glossy, with slender, silvery strands. The liquor is golden and clear, offering a pure, full-bodied taste that reflects the elegance and scarcity of early Yunnan Sheng Pu-erh.
