Developed over 50 years by Taiwan’s Tea Research and Extension Station, TRES No.18—also known as Ruby Red—is a premium black tea cultivar bred from native Taiwanese mountain tea and the Burma large-leaf variety. Grown near Sun Moon Lake by the Yuchi Farmers' Association, this tea is crafted for full-bodied flavor and aromatic complexity. The tea brews to a vibrant ruby-red liquor with a golden ring at the rim, releasing a subtle blend of mint and cinnamon fragrance. Its taste is rich and smooth, with a touch of astringency that gently transforms into a lasting sweet aftertaste. The high polyphenol content, fully oxidized during processing, contributes to its depth and lingering flavor.
